Reunited at Last!!!!
Kristy, the beloved pet of the Clark family from New Orleans had
been left behind at the Convention Center in New Orleans when
hurricane Katrina swept through. In the rush of trying to get out
of New Orleans safely, the Clark family had to leave without
their dog, "Kristy" and their cat, "Sadie". Fortunately, for
everyone, Kristy survivied hurricane Katrina on her own, and was
still alive and living outside the convention center when she was
found by a news photographer days later. Gretchen, a Providence
Journal news photographer found Kristy, and was given permission to
adopt Kristy and transport her back to her home in
Massachusetts.
She came with her adopted owner in to
Whispering Pines Animal Hospital for a full health check and
vaccinations. Kristy was sick with heartworm, hookworm, roundworm,
and fleas. Fortunately, she was successfully treated for all of the
parasites, and returned to good health. Soon the original owners,
the Clark family were found and Kristy was flown down to Carencro,
Louisiana to be reunited with her family.
