Reunited at Last!!!!
Kristy, the beloved pet of the Clark family from New Orleans had been left behind at the Convention Center in New Orleans when hurricane Katrina swept through. In the rush of trying to get out of New Orleans safely, the Clark family had to leave without their dog, "Kristy" and their cat, "Sadie". Fortunately, for everyone, Kristy survivied hurricane Katrina on her own, and was still alive and living outside the convention center when she was found by a news photographer days later. Gretchen, a Providence Journal news photographer found Kristy, and was given permission to adopt Kristy and transport her back to her home in Massachusetts.
She came with her adopted owner in to Whispering Pines Animal Hospital for a full health check and vaccinations. Kristy was sick with both intestinal, skin and blood parasites. Specifically, she had heartworm, hookworm, roundworm, and fleas. Fortunately, she was successfully treated for all of the parasites, and returned to good health. She had to stay at Whispering Pines Animal Hospital for a week. First she was given medicine to get rid of the stomach parasites. next she was given two injections 24 hours apart to cure her heartworm disease. Thirdly she was given a topical treatment to get rid of the fleas. Fortunately for all, Kristy was soon cured of all her parasitic diseases. Soon the original owners, the Clark family were found and Kristy was flown down to Carencro, Louisiana to be reunited with her family.
In addition to the happy reunion with their dog, the Clark family was blessed to find that their cat, "Sadie", also survived the category five hurricane. When the Clark family went back to New Orleans to inspect their home two and a half months later, they found their cat Sadie waiting for them on the porch of their New Orleans home!!!!
Whispering Pines Animal Hospital is still in touch with the Clark family. Now, three years later the Clark family has moved into a larger home with their three children, plus Kristy and Sadie. All are in good health. |
